29 days - 27 bike washes

Are you tired of washing the bikes yet?

NOT... every day now begins with the ritual washing as we are becoming too tired (or lazy to wash at night).

Headed south to Denver. What a crappy ride. We were in traffic going in the morning, and there was this a**hole driving a sod-cutter on a trailer who hadn't cleaned off the trailer... so we got blasted with gravel and dirt for several miles.

We were looking for an electronics shop because Ted decided he had to have a GPS (Dave has one). "Ultimate Electronics" didn't have the Tom-Tom Rider model, but we got the 800 customer service number. Know what? They aren't able to tell you where to buy one. So we walked into a Sportsman store and Ted found a Magellan 2000 that fit the bill. Woohoo, now he's happy with a new toy.

We were so happy with our find that we wandered into a neighbourhood bar. Actually, Dave needed coolant for his bike, so we asked the guys were the nearest bar was. They gave us a strange look and pointed across the parking lot.

So in we went, met Lucy the bartender, and ordered two of their one-dollar draft beers. What's wrong with Canada? Two hours later we staggered out, drove to the gas station, and got accosted by a couple of girls from California selling "Formula 1 Carnuba Cleaning / Polishing Wax". After several demonstrations of the product, we bought one can. Just couldn't resist.

From there we headed west out of Denver to drive up Mount Evans. You go up 7,000 feet in 14 miles, which doesn't sound like a lot, but is. The road is two lanes, and only 15 feet wide. No guardrails and drops off several hundred feet at the edge. In places, the asphalt is crumling off the sides and falling down the mountain. We're both a bit shy of heights, and Dave said about halfway up he was considering stopping the bike and killing me.

Had a great dinner after at the Buffalo restaurant in Idaho Springs. We also found out from a guy that there are no Buffalo in North America, only Bison.

Long drive back into Denver (a big city), and crashed in a Day's Inn near the airport. Tomorrow we pick up the ladies and go west!
